Timber frame construction blends age-old building techniques and modern technology to create joinery that connects posts and beams. The timber is cut by hand in our shop and assembled on location. The wood we prefer to use is salvaged reclaimed timber, mostly dry, aged Douglas fir, from old buildings that have been dismantled. Reclaimed timber frames are not only beautiful to behold, the structural performance of timber-framed homes typically exceeds the strength and longevity of most traditional houses and cabins built in the last century.
We are experts specializing in timber framing and provide reclaimed timber and timber frame construction services to consumers directly or to general contractors building their clients’ homes. With either approach, we work closely with general contractors to ensure that construction proceeds smoothly. We encourage our clients to work with an experienced architect and general contractor (we are happy to recommend) to ensure optimum design integrity and construction quality.
